CNMC Congo Mining Co., Ltd. (CNMCC), a wholly owned subsidiary of China Nonferrous Metal Mining (Group) Co., Ltd. (CNMC) that operates in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), funded and built a secondary school with modern facilities for the commune of Panda in Likasi, Haut-Katanga Province, the DRC.

The handover ceremony for the school was held on Sept. 2 local time, marking another example of concrete actions CNMCC has taken to support local education development.

The school represents one of CNMCC's key achievements in serving local communities, fulfilling its corporate social responsibilities (CSR), and advancing the public-benefit initiative of "100 Companies in 1,000 Villages," which was launched by the Alliance of Chinese Companies in Africa for Corporate Social Responsibilities (ACBASR).

The project, with a total investment of $330,000, includes six classrooms, one administrative office, one teachers' office, and a complete set of teaching equipment.

In his speech delivered at the handover ceremony, Mbav Ndumb Jean Marie, Chairman of the development committee of Panda commune, praised CNMCC's proactive CSR efforts over the years.

He highlighted the company's multi-million-yuan investments in projects such as the construction of the Likasi central station, donation of agricultural machinery, and installation of streetlights for local communities.

These contributions have made a significant impact on agriculture, power, water conservancy, transportation, education, as well as other sectors of the locality, positioning CNMCC as a key driver of the development of Panda commune, Mbav Ndumb noted.

Nonda Ilenge Paulind, the Mayor of Panda commune, expressed appreciation for the sound cooperative relationship between the local communities and CNMCC in his speech.

He urged teaching staff and students to cherish the valuable educational facilities and make the most of this precious opportunity to study.

He also expressed the hope that the peoples of China and the DRC will work together hand in hand and enjoy shared growth along their paths of development.

Looking ahead, CNMCC will remain committed to the concept of "China and the DRC sharing a common future and developing together," and continue to respond actively to the development needs of the local communities.

The company's major CSR projects for the next step include the construction of a modern market in the community of Pandamayi and a health center in the Kamilopa community.
